Dharwad peda is prepared from the milk of Dharwadi buffaloes which are raised by the Gavali community in and around Dharwad in Karnata. It is a delicacy unique to the state of Karnataka, from the Northern part of the state. The original pedas are unevenly shaped. As the peda makers make the nuggets they are said to hurl the pedas to bowls of sugar where they land and become coated!
